Where minds are
gently lifted.

Life can feel heavy. Talking to someone who truly listens can change that. I'm Nisha — a counsellor with many years of caring for people's health, now here to care for what matters most: your mind, your story, and your sense of self.

  • Many years in healthcare
  • Qualified counsellor
  • Confidential & judgement-free
“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over,
it became a butterfly.”

Why “Lifted Minds”?

The butterfly knows something
we forget.

No butterfly is born with wings. Every single one begins heavy, earthbound — and goes through a season of stillness before it rises. The name Lifted Minds and the butterfly found each other for a reason: transformation isn't an accident. It's a process. And it is built into you.

🐛

The Caterpillar

The weight

The season of carrying — hunger, heaviness, moving through life low to the ground. Nothing is wrong with the caterpillar. It simply isn't finished yet.

🍃

The Chrysalis

The turning inward

The pause that looks like nothing and changes everything. This is where counselling lives — a held, quiet space where the inner work happens.

🦋

The Butterfly

The lifted mind

Not a different creature — the same one, transformed. Lighter, freer, finally able to see the landscape it once crawled through.

A butterfly can never see its own wings.
Sometimes we need someone to reflect them back to us.

About Nisha

A lifetime of caring for people.
A calling to care for minds.

Nisha Govender, B.Pharm — Counselling Specialist Wellness Counsellor

For many years I have practised as a pharmacist — standing on the other side of the counter through people's hardest days. Illness, loss, anxiety, exhaustion: I learnt early that what people carry inside is often heavier than any diagnosis. Medicine can treat the body, but people also need to be heard.

That truth led me to qualify as a counsellor. I am endlessly fascinated by the inner workings of the mind — what drives us, shapes us, and quietly holds us back. My work is about creating a warm, unhurried space where you can reflect, untangle, and rediscover the lightness in yourself.

The Nisha Difference

Where medicine meets the mind

Very few counsellors have spent many years dispensing medicine. Very few pharmacists are qualified counsellors. Nisha is both — and that changes what counselling can do for you.

💊 Medication & Mood Support

Starting an antidepressant? Worried about side effects, or thinking of stopping? Counselling from someone who understands both the pharmacology and the feelings — always working alongside your prescriber, never instead of them.

🫀 Living with Chronic Illness

Diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune conditions — long-term treatment is as much an emotional journey as a medical one. Support for the frustration, fear and fatigue that prescriptions alone can't touch.

🔍 Health Anxiety

When every symptom sends you to Dr Google at 2am. A counsellor with real medical literacy can help separate genuine concern from anxiety — and calm the spiral.

🌸 Menopause & Midlife Wellbeing

Hormones, identity, sleep, mood — midlife changes are physical and emotional at once. Counselling that understands both sides of that story.

🤲 Caregiver Support

Caring for an ill parent, partner or child is loving — and exhausting. A space for the carer to be cared for, from someone who has watched carers carry it for decades.

🏥 Wellness for Healthcare Teams

Talks and support sessions for pharmacy and healthcare staff — burnout, compassion fatigue and resilience, from someone who has lived that counter-side pressure.

Pharmacist-informed counselling — a niche Nisha spent many years in the making.

🌱

Self-Worth & Growth

Exploring the inner voice, old patterns and beliefs that shaped you — and choosing which ones get to come with you.

💊

Health & Illness Support

Living with illness, caring for someone who is, or navigating a diagnosis. Counselling informed by many years in healthcare.

🤝

Relationships & Family

Understanding the dynamics that play out with the people closest to us, and finding kinder ways to connect.

My Approach

Delving gently into
the inner workings.

I believe every person makes sense — once their story is truly heard. My counselling is reflective and person-centred: we slow down, look inward, and explore what drives you to be who you are. No judgement, no rush, no fixing you — because you are not broken.

1

We talk · the landing

A safe, confidential conversation. You set the pace and the agenda.

2

We reflect · the chrysalis

Together we notice patterns, beliefs and feelings beneath the surface.

3

You rise · the flight

With insight comes lightness — clearer choices, steadier days, a lifted mind.

Mission & Vision

Uplifting people.
Softening the world.

🦋

Sense

A butterfly lands lightly and feels everything through its feet. Nisha listens the same way — picking up the feelings beneath the words, the inner thoughts you haven't yet found language for.

💧

Flow

Feelings are like water: dammed up, they grow heavy and dark. Given somewhere safe to flow — like a waterfall finding its release — they turn into movement, mist, and light. Counselling is that release.

🌸

Rise

Where water falls, gardens grow and butterflies gather. Each mind that lifts, lifts the people around it — a family, a workplace, a community. This is how the world gets better: one lifted mind at a time.

Nisha's Mission

To give every person who sits with her a space where feelings can finally flow — to be sensed, heard and released — so they leave lighter than they came.

Nisha's Vision

A world where tending to the mind is as natural as tending to the body — and where every lifted mind lifts another.

Good to Know

Questions people often ask

What happens in a first session?

We simply talk. You share as much or as little as you like, and we get a feel for working together. There's no pressure and nothing to prepare.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between us, within the standard ethical limits of counselling practice, which I'll explain clearly at the start.

How long is a session, and how many will I need?

Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Some people come for a few sessions around a specific issue; others prefer ongoing support. We'll review together as we go.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes — sessions are available in person or online, whichever feels more comfortable for you.

Why are sessions paid upfront and non-refundable?

Because your session time is reserved entirely for you — and because commitment is part of the therapy itself. As in psychotherapy practice, paying upfront is your first act of showing up for your own progress. With 24 hours' notice a session can be moved once to another available time.

Is counselling a replacement for medical care?

No. Counselling supports your emotional wellbeing alongside — not instead of — care from your doctor. With my pharmacy background I'm comfortable working alongside your healthcare team.

Can I claim my session from medical aid?

Sessions aren't billed directly to medical aid schemes — keeping the practice independent means our conversations stay entirely between us, with no diagnosis codes or claim paperwork sent to a third party. You'll receive a proper tax invoice for every paid session, though, which many clients submit themselves to their scheme's day-to-day or savings benefit for a partial reimbursement — it's worth checking what your specific plan covers.
